Fríður Ólafsdóttir is an Associate Professor at University College of Education in Reykjavík, Iceland, and an international textile expert. Fridur has spent many years researching the origins of Icelandʼs distinctive national costumes. Her work has resulted in books on both menʼs and womenʼs wear as well as a video on womenʼs costumes; she has also written on Icelandic textiles and is currently taking an MA in Multi-Media Textiles at the Art and Design Department of De Monfort University in Leicester, England.

Fridurʼs North American lecture series will begin in Toronto on May 26 and her tour will continue across Canada, extending to the west coast, and then to Seattle and Minneapolis before returning home to Iceland. This six-hour program is bound to be of interest to anyone interested in the national costume, as well as those with an interest in textiles.

This tour has been organized by the International Visits Program of the Icelandic National Leagues of North America and of Iceland and sponsored by their member clubs, Icelandair, and in Victoria by the Beck Fund.
